Sunrise Tour Marie was very cordial and professional from beginning to end. Before leaving CA for our trip, she got back to me and gave us choices based on our preferences. She picked us up at the appropriate time, and gave us an overview of our morning schedule. Though the weather was a little wet, and dark, Marie guided through the tour like a pro. I would advise that you wear hiking boots with traction, warm clothing and bring a flashlight, or miner’s light for your head. Marie guided me through the appropriate photographic ISO, Speed, Aperture, white balance and other preferences. Appreciated the three locations selected, and would encourage anyone to choose Marie for her knowledge, professionalism and hospitality. 5-star experience!
So much more than 'just' a photo tour Having always been a want to be photographer, the chance to take pictures in one of the most beautiful places on the planet was too much for me to pass up. I visited Oahu during the Covid pandemic from 12/4/2020 through 12/14/2020 and while many businesses were closed due to lack of visitors. I found a photo tour with Blue Hawaii was available. I booked it and based on other tours I had booked was not certain it would even run due to not enough guests to make it worthwhile. To my surprise the evening before my tour, I got a text confirming the tour. It was from the owner, Marie, who said I was the only passenger that day, I immediately offered to reschedule so she would not have to do a full tour with only one person and likely lose money. But she insisted as she did not want to disappoint me. I added the sunrise photo tour to my island tour so that we could get a full day in and start early. Remember me saying I am a 'want to be' photographer. Well, that is true. I have a Nikon D5300 that I basically use as a point and shoot with all auto settings. I have always wanted to have someone show me how to get the most out of it. This seemed like a good time, and it was. Marie picked me up right on time and gave me some background about where we would be going and photographing. She was incredibly patient and I struggled getting walking on the 'lava rocks' at the beach and helped me understand timing of the photo for the best ocean 'splash'. She walked me through the settings on the camera, not once or twice but many times as I would forget how to coordinate the aperture and the ISO and speed. She even helped me understand what white balance is and when and how to set it for the best dramatic pictures. By the time the day was done, I felt like I had been through a masters class in photography. Through the day as we drove she gave great little tidbits of information not just about photography but also about the island and its history. Pointing out not just historic locations but stumbling onto the taping of a current TV show where they made us sit for 5 minutes while they were preparing to shoot. That gave us a chance to get pictures of a certain red Ferrari. While some of this was just fortunate timing and certainly not something you can expect on a typical tour. I hope it shows that there is much more to the tours from Blue Hawaii Photo tours than just taking pictures. If you are in Oahu, do yourself a favor and book a day with these folks. Whether you are an experienced photographer, a want to be (like me), use your phone camera or even just want to see some great local venues and learn a little about the island, Blue Hawaii Photo Tours will not disappoint. Aloha, I look forward to another trip someday soon.
A sunrise I´ll never forget This Sunrise - Island - Tour is the best. It´s not just the amazing place for sunrise, Tourguide Patti took us, its also because she told us so many stories about nature and history of this amazing island while the sun rose. I also learned how to catch the perfect moment with my camera. After sunrise and a coffee break Patti introduced us to paradise at many more amazing places - beaches, mountain views, historical spots, the best shrimp truck of the island. I had a blast - can't wait to be back. Special Thanks to Patti - the best tour guide because she loves this place so much. Highly recommended!
Knowledgeable and interesting class Took Marie's online iphone class and found her to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. Look forward to booking an in person tour with her soon!!!
We Did The USS Arizona Tour plus a downtown Honolulu trip The wife and I go to Hawaii every year and went to Oahu from 1983 to 1995. At that point the Hookers and drug sellers were everywhere so we started going to the Big Island instead. Last year we decided we missed going on the USS Arizona, so I booked a tour and Wayne picked us up at the airport when we flew in from Kona. He took us downtown because we hadn't seen Honolulu for 24 years and I can't believe how much it had changed and not so much for the better for what we like. If you like a lot of top end stores and shopping, it's undoubtedly the place for you. Anyway, the Arizona was the same but the museum on the grounds was new as was the intro video. As always, we were deeply moved while on the Arizona. We'll come again in another couple of years to pay our respects. Our warmest Mahalo for Wayne
Great Way to See Oahu I was in Honolulu on business and had one day to see the island before my redeye flight out. Blue Hawaii Photo Tours was recommended by a coworker. I'm not a photographer and was a little skeptical - but I was so glad I went! There were only 4 on our Sunrise Tour. Our guide Patty was very knowledgeable about the island history and local lore, and the stops were not rushed. I had plenty of time to soak it all in. Patty also taught me some cool tips when using my iPhone 6. Lunch at the shrimp truck she picked was awesome. We saw lovely coves and beaches, and turtles coming ashore to sunbathe on Turtle Beach - something I'll never forget. This was my first trip to Hawaii, and after this tour, I'll defnately be going back.
An unforgettable whirlwind tour of Oahu! I cannot say enough wonderful things about our tour. Our guide, Patty, was incredibly insightful not only aboit the places we saw, bit of the local culture. We learned so much, as well as found breathtaking scenery along the way. And the food. The little hideaway places had fantastic food, and farm-fresh, local-grown produce. From artisanal chocolate, to an out-of-the-way small family food truck, everything was just authentic and real. No pretense. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and highly recommended!
Great tour Guide! Bre was an amazing tour guide! She was very knowledgeable. Go on a tour here if it all possible! Great time!!
TOUR NORTH SHORE, GREENWORLD COFFEE FARM, GUNSTOCK RANCH Wonderful trip around Oahu Island. Andrea, the driver, was fun and a fountain of information. She knew where to stop to check the beaches, no turtles tho, not her fault (haha) and it was a great variety of stops to see things and places I haven't seen. The coffee farm was interesting and the varieties of brewed coffe I tried was grqt, even peanut butter coffee. The Gunstock Ranch had lunch for us and we did a drive to the top of the ranch (400 ft above sealevel) and got a great view of the ocean, and planted MILO TREES to reforest the ranch. Full day trip from 8AM to 3PM. I loved the variety of experiences and the great driver who told us everything we needed to know .
Sunrise plus Island Tour I did the Sunrise plus Island Tour and this is a great way to see Hawaii, especially if you don’t have a car. There were only 4 people in our tour group which was perfect, and our tour guide Patti was knowledgeable both about the island and photography. You don’t need a professional camera, you can take some great photos with your phone camera. I do have a DSLR, but I am posting some phone photos.
